They do make good slaves if you're talking vassalization or colonialism :D

Otherwise yeah, without goverment seat proximity bonus it's indeed harder to make them happy unless they're your main imperial species. Gotta go more creative with policies and foci. Or, y'know, go the Conformism + Indoctrination route (or Diversity if you gather enough collectibles). Though that's more of a mid game than early game deal.

or don't bother and keep those gas giants for huge artificial gaia worlds late in the game :P Or just empty with gas giant generator if there's some other planet in the system. Like mind of the void intended.

Similar consideration is Laenfa (also independent stability) and Replicon (very bad stability -5). Tho at least Laenfa are telephatic so good for Psionic (which helps Conformism+Indoctrination should you go there)

Another angle is to keep them as influence producers, for which stability doesn't matter.

And they're going to count for metropole support if you struggle to otherwise find enough supporting planets. (But themselves to be a metropole, that's a tough proposition stability wise)

And ultimately thanks to their high pop, it's not like they produce nothing even without 10+ stability bonuses (and some bonuses don't require stability). And if you do grab them sooner than later, they're gonna reach that higher pop sooner.

So yeah I'm trying to find positives :D
